How to determine skin care routine right for you

We must  understand the features of  skin care and ageing skin. As we age, our skin starts to lose its elasticity and firmness because the collagen and elastin in our skin begins to lose their resiliency and cohesiveness. The collagen production slows down as well as we age.

Skin cells die out frequently thus losing their ability to retain moisture. As a result, your skin becomes dull, rough and starts to sag and wrinkle.
In a situation like this, you want to treat your skin in the right way in order to get the best possible results. Skin care is always simple if you try to keep it simple. So here are some guidelines that will help you make the right skin care choices.

A solid daily skincare routine does not need to be complicated, but it does need to be consistent and suited to your skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive).

1.    Use an effective and mild cleanser

Cleansing daily is very important for your skin.Make sure that your cleanser goes deep into your skin and removes all the dirt and excess oil, leaving your skin feeling soft and fresh. Look for a product that delivers light exfoliation, conditions your skin and does not leave any dirt remaining.

2.    Tonify

Use toner after cleansing . A tonifying  solution helps rebalance skin pH , open your pores and help your skin for the next steps of skin care.
You can apply:
•    Hydrating toners (with glycerine or hyaluronic acid) for dry skin
•    Light exfoliating toners (with mild acids) for oily/acne-prone skin
•    Sensitive skin: use toners with calming, soothing ingredients to reduce redness & irritation
Apply with a soft disposable or reusable cotton round, or simply pat onto your skin using your fingers and then apply any serums, boosters or treatments, layering them from the thinnest to the thickest texture.

3.    Moisturise

This step helps to lock in moisture and keep water substances from evaporating and nourish your skin with essential lipids

4.    Nourish
This is when your skin repairs itself, it helps when using nourishing products containing botanicals oil that  are especially effective. They nourish your skin with essential lipids which your skin needs to stay supple and keep its protective lipid barrier intact.

5.    SPF Sunscreen  (SPF 30)— -Most important step in the morning- ALWAYS LAST
Always finish your daytime skin care routine with a broad-spectrum sun cream.
It helps prevent premature skin ageing caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.
When shopping for sunscreen, you may want to opt for a physical, or mineral-based, product. Recent research has found that the ingredients in some chemical sunscreens can be absorbed into your blood.
